I took a quick look at Paul's timeline. Removing
Astronumdi from the equation, we have elves exploring
as early as 20,000 years ago. I think an abbreviated
timeline would look like this:
~ -20k -first explorations of modern known space by
elves originating from "beyond".
~ -10k -SJ elves crash on Toril.
~ -4k -Crusade of the Eternal Lotus; ends in disaster
for the Kreen.
~ -4k -Beholders crash on Toril.
~ -3k -Halflings settle Anadi in Realmspace.
~ -2.5k -Netheril enters SJ, quickly abandons it.
~ -2k -Aaracrota settle Coliar in Realmspace.
~ -1k -SJ still unknown in Greatspace, as worlds are
still discovered via astronomy.
~ -700 -Fall of Myth Drannor; SJ elves send 1 (one!)
MoW for the fight.
-SJ known to Greatspace by this time.
-Pirtelspace discovered.
~ -600 -Radole empire founded
~ -500 -Unhuman Wars
~ -450 -Reorx settled by this time.
~ -400 -Stardock is built by the illithids
~ -350 -The Dock is built by the Arcane.
~ -300 -Greatspace unified.
~ -250 -Bral founded
Looking at this, I'd say that it can be summarized as
such:
-20k to -5k: ancient times. A few ships of the Elven
Fleet explore the area, but overall not much SJ
activity.
-5k to -1k: colonization era. Starting with the
Kreen, many races settle various worlds. "Known
Space" mostly the Radiant Triangle.
-1k to present: Age of Piracy. More colonies founded,
Known Space spreads, the Inner Flow takes shape,
Unhuman Wars, several pirates become reknown.
