What exactly is 'shrakma'? I didn't read that before, so where is it
mentioned?

A few notes, without full-quoting the whole previous discussion:

Government:
===========

I can't really imagine a society of faeries thats in any way similar to
our societies, present or historical. The only exception is the faerie
court of litarature, with nobles and king & queen.

Side note: I found that generally the societies the authors or we
ourselves came up with are too much alike each other. In a universe with
so much variety (lifeworlds, all kind of elemental worlds, different laws
of nature, magic & psiononics, different gods, etc...) there should
definitely exist more types of culture!

I know that its really hard to think outside the box in this regard
bacause we are affected by our own culture from since childhood. Its hard
to imagine something you never heard or read, let alone experienced. I
have a hard time myself coming up with a unique type of culture. I'm sure
there are tons of books about that topic out there, but I dont have the
time in the next 8 months (or more) doing this kind of research on a
relaitve minor SJ topic.

Do you think a 'unique cultures-postfest' would be a good idea?

...back to the society of faerispace.
If the 'king' is the dryad of the sphere's tree (I LOVE this idea!!!),
then he might be able to form multiple avatars and thus can intervene
everywhere if necessary. Thus, a 'faerie court' won't be needed to do the
governing work.

I picture faeries as very individualistic beings, so a clearly structured
government seems not quite right to me.

Other connections between Faeriespace & the multiverse
======================================================

The idea of the Faerie Roads is great. It fits this sphere and gives it a
very unique flavour. I can even see it as the usual mode of inter-world
travel, making spelljamming something almost exclusively used by
outsiders.

Portals/gates to Yggdrasil (in the form of mists rising around the
characters, transporting them to another world and avaporating thereafter.
like the mists of ravenloft, only without the eeeeevilllll touch...) and
the planar realms of the elven gods would be a good addition too, but they
should be rare and not widely known (i.e. the players have to look around
for a sage/specialist who knows one), so it would not distract from the
simplicity).

Living space in the great tree
==============================

I agree, Faeriespace is one of the spheres with the largest amount of
available living space, on par with Herdspace - or perhaps even bigger,
because of the large number oh HUGE leaves on the tree!

So we have to think about the consequences: why does a sphere with so many
inhabitants has not a bigger influence on it's surrounding spheres? Two
examples:

- Part of that can be explained with the special 'faerie-nature' of the
sphere: These guys don't WANT to leave their beautiful realms - whereever
they go, its worse than home.

- They simply prefer other modes of travel. For them, faerie roads and
portals (or faerie-themed portal-equivalents) to other worlds are
preferred to boring yourself to death on a ship.

Modes of travel inside the sphere
=================================

I like the natives travelling from world to world on the backs of huge
animals. I don't like however that this animals would be able to fly at
spelljamming speed. An alternative would be a rare 'faerie-spell' that
confers this ability to them. That might even be award enough (even though
I like the bribing-idea) for these giant beasts, as being able to fly THAT
fast should be a unique (or at least, rare) experience...

Another variant hit my mind, inspired by the irish legends about pots of
gold on the end of a rainbow: The vast distances between the different
worlds can be crossed by a spell (or supernatural feat) that creates a
rainbow around the caster and a certain area around him. The rainbow rises
slowly from the ground, lifting those upon it and taking them far above
the world. When it leaves the orbit, it flies with spelljamming spead
toward the targeted world, where it softly lands...

Otherwise, I'd prefer the aforementioned faerie roads (called 'backroads
and crossrads' in Magic of Faerun) or portals.
