Coincidentally, I've been thinking about the 'Crystal Spheres' spheres
myself recently. I'm not overly convinced by the 'High Level
Character's Retirement Sphere' concept of Herospace, and I've been
considering an alternative version with the same nine suns and nine
planets (and one moon), but with each sun and associated planet having
links to the equivalent plane on the Great Wheel (not gates as such,
more that it is easier to open gates or make other links to the
associated plane). With an 'origin myth' that the original inhabitants
of each world were chosen petitioners from the associated plane.
This could tie into a 'planejammer' crossover that has been mooted as
well.
I've also considered a slight change/padding out of Faeriespace using
various assorted Fae supplements (Tall Tales of the wee Folk,
Changling: The Dreaming, etc.) As a side note, IIRC, there is a
reference to a 'Land of Faerie' in Realms mythology, so there might be
a possibility of a tie-in there.
Definitely think multi-system support on BtM is a good idea.
With reference to your comments about Krynnspace - do you have any
ideas about what to do about the 'missing' planet Shinare (which was
mentioned in Tales of the Lance)?

When you said he was acting odd, you did not specify "Miniature
Spacetime Singularity" odd!
