Ah, really? Didn't know that, thought Pirates of Gith were just a
cultural offshoot, not that far apart form their Astral relatives, ie a
faction or caste.

Mercane, yes, I agree, it's a DUMB name, but I suppose it does allow
difference to be drawn between them and "general arcane things" and
"mer"chant-ar"cane" kind of makes sense. Arcane is less..."grubby"
though, lol.

Oh I noted in "Expedition to Castle Greyhawk" an NPC magic item seller,
who can get nearly any item, from mysterious sources, I tend to think
they directly meant the mysterious sources are Arcane?

Correction: pirates of Gith are *not* Githyanki. They are a related
race, being a branch of the Githyanki/Githzerai forerunners who
remained on the Prime after the collapse of the Illithid empire.

I always thought that was a really dumb name. Unless you're talking
about Arcane what have the bottom halves of fishes.
Anyhow... just one more 3rd-edition "revision" that's perfectly fine
to ignore as we strive to continue on with the Spelljammer setting :-p
