The week works better for the short story medium; a longer time frame  
is probably better for gaming material, so you're right there. A  
month sounds fair, maybe two months if people would rather.

True, but for my part I think the point of the contest should be to  
encourage the generation of fresh material. But then, you're right,  
if it's new to us who's to know? Myself, I think I'd prefer trying to  
draft something new.
