How do you get Klingons not being lawful? While I'll grant you that the range of Klingon alignment tendencies probably follows the variety that humans show, at its core the Klingon warrior ideal is a lawful one, no? But the main point is Giff are not Klingons by any stretch. Where I would color it differently... Klingons live by a warrior's code. Giff live by a soldier's code. They're two very different things, though they may have some superficial similarities. Also, I would hasten to add that the Giff have a characteristic bizarre fascination with things that go "boom." And finally, the entire Giff race is mercenary. Whereas the Klingons are the imperialist foils, the Giff are never out advancing their own interests. If any race in SJ is in danger of cheesy Star Trek parallelism -- specifically with the Klingons -- it's the Scro.
