I don't know...B5 fell into the same traps in the end,
with far too many alien races.  Those were usually
grouped in the "League of Non-aligned Races". :p

I seem to recall an image of a giff that was less
hippo-like and more...alien.  With the right redesign,
they could have features that'd best be described as
"hippo-like", only because that's the closest thing
that they resemble. :)
