I think that it's certainly profit-driven, like everyone else that any business tends to do, but I don't think it's a "short term" decision. Printing costs continue to rise; the number of people who are interested in taking periodicals (as opposed to web content) continues to fall. (Especially considering that WOTC is undoubtedly trying hard to reach younger gamers and "crossover" gamers who ordinarily would play only video games, for the long-term health of the gaming industry.) "Dragon" and "Dungeon" might have been losing money for years, for all we know. I don't work for WOTC, but I'm just mystified at the vitriol. I'm sad to see "Dragon" go, but I'm not angry.
