The support in brackets adds the symbol (and seems to add to some sort of 
automated count). The four ~ symbols is a standard Wikipedia shortcut that 
puts your signature and the current time (it is usually only used on talk 
pages, where editing decisions for specific articles are discussed). You 
might want to put something like "sorry I forgot to sign" before you add 
this (in case people wonder why your sig is out of sequence and get 
confused).

Anyway, thanks for your help. We can chug along at a slower pace until you 
are less busy, but any links you can add to your websites might help attract 
more editiors.

The exciting news is that someone from Wikia have attached a notice 
promising to email me soon. I'll have my fingers crossed that it will be 
good news.
