Subject: Re: About the kasharin
I *think* that the Kasharin can only be found in the Legend of Spelljammer
boxed set. They are undead, but I'm pretty sure they are not liches. I think
that they were created by some sort of biological weapon or necromantic
spell designed to kill off the beholders on The Spelljammer. I'm pretty sure
they are mindless undead (in the same way that zombies and skelletons are
mindless).

It would be worth looking up the original source material, because from what
I recall their are two types of undead beholders and the Kasharin are only
one of them. One type (which I think is the Kasharin) is a zombie-like
beholder, that I believe is wrapped in bandages. The other type is more
conventional undead, that I think serves as their master. I think the master
undead is more likely to be a beholder-lich. As beholders are said to be
xenophobic the Kasharin could be from a different subrace to the beholders
that created them. There might have been some sort of beholder-vs-beholder
war on the Spelljammer in the past.

In the time period of the Legend of Spelljammer boxed set the Kasharin may
well have only just been created, so the other beholders may still think
they are ill and not realise they have become undead.

My Legend of the Spelljammer boxed set is in the loft, so if someone else
has access to their one I hope they will reply and confirm if my memory is
correct.
