A Java converter? But you can do this sort of thing with JavaScript in a
bookmarklet/favlet. I found a year conversion bookmarklet and quickly
modified it for Greyhawk to Dragonlance years. All you do to use it is add
the following HTML to your webpage:
<p>Click the following bookmarklet to convert years from <a
href="javascript:tMpZ85r=prompt('Greyhawk%20year%20in%20years%20OC..','');if(tMpZ85r){if(isNaN(parseFloat(tMpZ85r))){alert(tMpZ85r+'%20is%20not%20a%20number')}else{void(prompt('Dragonlance%20year%20in%20years%20AC:%20',Math.round((
tMpZ85r-4685))))}}else{void(null)}">Greyhawk
(OC) to Dragonlance (AC)</a>.</p>
As bookmarklets are modified hyperlinks, they are a lot quicker to load that
a separate Java applet and you don't need your visitors to have Java
installed. JavaScript is already installed in most browsers and runs when
you click on the link. (Your visitors may get a security warning if they try
to run a JavaScript bookmarklet, so you need to tell them it is OK to press
yes.)
And the other beauty of bookmarklets is that people can save them (to their
bookmarks) and run them later without going back to your website. (Going to
your bookmarks/favorites and clicking on a bookmarklet you have saved runs
the JavaScript.
The only problem with this "Greyhawk to Dragonlance bookmarklet" is that it
won't display negative dates as PC years. I would have to do a bit of
research to be able to make a bookmarklet that worked for both positive and
negative dates, but if I could get it to work for one numbering system I
could modify the bookmarklet to create one for every different year system.
(Although with all the different combinations there would be a lot of
different bookmarkets to put on a page.)
