Well I am just starting to play with it a bit as I ramp up for my new Planejammer game, so these are unresearched opinions as yet. The statblock idea from 3e is one that I love, and the Stormwrack statblocks have a hgh degree of correspondance wth SJ if you look at them. The main thing is the complication of using hull sections, something I am still on the fence about. On one hand it provides a little more realism and a way to sink a ship without having t smash it into toothpicks. On the other hand it looks cumbersome and could well take a lot of the fun out of combat. I like the Sea/Spaceworthiness and Shiphandling scores. I would say that in SJ these would stack with Pilot Spelljammer (or your campaign's analogue) for making rolls. Power type (helm varietal) and land/water landing can be easily added as subheadings in the speed section of the statblock. I am also looking at the stat layout from Aether and Flux, as well as making a request once again for someone t post a statblock from Airships (Bastion Press) for me to look at. I know it seems to be the elusive grail, but would like to get a 3e standard statblock for SJ so we can all quit messing with conversion after conversion and share our ships easily. Once I have it smoothed out a bit I will be posting a custom Octopus from my last campaign as an example ship. > That is why we went for a 'minimal change' approach which altered > as little of the 2ndEd SJ mechanics, to attempt to produced 3rdEd > mechanics, as we could. At the very least I want to write a set of SJ mods for those using Stormwrack so they have an easier time bridging the gap between sea and wildspace. - -Loki
