This is an interesting approach to a general problem in Spelljammer -- the
standard helms are really too expensive for space-dwelling cultures to be
viable without some cheaper form of space drive.  I will note that as of 3e
and on, Dwarves appear to have as many spellcasters as other races, but of
course that is in conflict with the original Spelljammer setting, and
wouldn't deal with the high cost of the standard helms.  (In my game I'm
using the much cheaper Flux equipment from Aether and Flux for in-system
drives, but still requiring helms for intersystem travel.)
