Soil conditions, for one.  Or lack of water.  Or
plagues of locust.  :)

Heh, I wouldn't even do that.  I know it sounds like a
lot of handwaving, but once you accept that "habitable
planet" basically covers everything from asteroids to
gas giants and even some suns, and the "habitable
zone" stretches from the primary all the way to the
fringes of the sphere, the whole setting becomes one
giant handwave.  Worry about if a plant gets enough
sunlight on the moon when you've got plants floating
in the winds of gas giants and other plants surviving
in what by all rights should be hard vaccum seems a
bit off ;D

BTW, I don't want to discourage development of the
spell.  I think the level of the spell is too low, and
it may be a little too broad, for the reasons already
pointed.  Something like this might be useful in
places like asteroid settlements, where sunlight is
typically too weak, or perhaps on Mercury-type
planets, to lighten a dark side or something :)
