Hmmm, Neogi as some sort of drow experiment...what an intriguing idea.
It would also be an interesting way to have the drow and the neogi
actually use the same ships. Another way of reconciling Spider Moon with
mainstream SpellJammer. I think I actually like this idea. How much
material exists on what sort of religion, if any, that the neogi
subscribe to? Even if there were evidence to the contrary an individual
DM might be tempted to stretch the rules so to speak and change the
neogi deity to Lloth. Quite the notion to wrap your brain around...

While this is an interesting theory... 
A) There are Spelljamming drow :) I forget, offhand, whether the major
Drow anchorage was in Realmspace or Greyspace, but the Drow do field a
modest number of ships in the void. Jade Spider Commandships and Monarch
class Armadas mostly.
B) The Neogi do not worship Lolth. If they had been a Drow creation,
then like everything else the Drow do, there would have been some
reverence built-in to the race for the Spider Queen. In fact, the only
published source that mentions Neogi priests or worship at all is in the
Astromundi cluster, where the Neogi worship the Astromundi incarnation
of the Egyptian god Set.
Also: the Drow would *never* have let their creations range so far
beyond their control -- it's in the Drow nature to keep a close rein on
slaves and servitors.
