I have designs on running the game in 3.5 Ed or combining SJ with several other gaming products to produce a reasonable facsimilie. My initial post that you are refering to was an attempt at humor. -----Original Message----- From: Dreamer <dreamer@??????.?????.??.uk> To: SPELLJAMMER-L@??????.???????.com Sent: Sun, 9 Jul 2006 08:44:47 +0100 Subject: Re: Neogi and Umber Hulks - air breathing? You can give people alternatives and possibilities, but it is up to them whether they take them. I have, and have recently played, characters who are hardly changed from those generated under Original D&D rules (Men & Magic/Greyhawk), a game which variants of reached a level of sophistication only equalled by AD&D 2ndEd. I also recently played a game of 'Bushido' and one of 'Flashing Blades'. I believe some friends were recently playing 'Dragonquest', and others 'Runequest 2ndEd'. All games have their strengths and weaknesses, and what ultimately affects the 'quality' of the game is the quality of the ref/GM. There are quite a few SJ things that I'd only do using 2ndEd, and others for which a working 3rdEd SJ would be useful. But, I don't think it is worth the effort to try and convert SJ to one or more varients of Original D&D! [grin] (SJ under Hero System (4thEd) anyone? I've run it!
