Well, no, it doesn't say that... but the same entry does say that the umber hulks of the Neogi are raised from birth to revere their small masters, which is probably the source of this effect. It's probably not a magical effect, and if used on groundling umber hulks I doubt it would be effective (why would a lone umber hulk that had never seen a Neogi before obey a command *not* to crush and eat it on first encounter?)
