Yeah, they are living creatures...thus not needing to breath WOULD be a Ex
or Su ability in 3rd ed, and no such thing is noted :)

Space myth.  The only reference to that is in a single
entry that has nothing to do with the monster itself,
just a throw-away line.  If neogi didn't breathe, it'd
be a significant advantage that would have been noted.
 Even the 3e material does not mention neogi not
breathing.
