If they don't have a spellcasting level, then I think that makes
sense.

I don't recall anything in the SJ rules about a Series Helm
draining the spell-like ability used to power it, which would
leave all those Mind Flayer helmsmen looking pretty sick, but I
think this makes sense.

So, under 3rdEd they would lose their spell-like abilities of
Mind Blast and Psionics, and arguably lose their supernatural
ability of Telepathy (though I might let them hang onto that),
for the rest of the day.

This would make sense if you think you need to feed a Helm
something valuable to make it work.

What do people think of this?
