There does exist a 3e "sailing ships in space" combat system, in Darkfuries Press' AETHER & FLUX, which I believe several people on the list own. Has anyone looked at it in detail? I admit I've only skimmed it so far. It has different types of ship propulsion than Spelljammer, and stats for different ships of course, but there looks to be a lot of overlap. It does use 3e sizes for ships (such as Gargantuan) and 3e maneuverability classes for flying creature (Perfect, Good, Poor, etc.). It also uses hit points, which looks funny, since, say a Caravel has a total of 4,999 HP! Anyway, would it make a good basis for this project? You can find it in the Arms and Equipments Guide. There are a number of different variant systems available, none of which I am happy with. We should examine the options and then decide which one A) keeps the original flavor/play style best and B) is effective and user friendly. Now I have not really gotten to dig through the Stormwrack hardcover yet, but I gather it has a LOT of useful ship info including a concept I quite like, ship feats. Does anyone have access to this book and if so could you give us a breakdown? -Loki
