Re: Locate Portal conversion - Was: Whatever happened to the 3.5e conversions to the Spelljammer Spells?

Havent had the opportunity to really go through all this in detail
yet, but a few things do jump out at me. Sorry for the list format to
all my posts, but I'm doing serious job interviews AND launching two
major projects for Planewalker at the same time...)

1)Spells that make a ship Ethereal are moot when it comes to portals.
There is NO planar access other than being able to pass into/out of
crystal spheres when you are in the Flow. Its an interesting thought
to consider what the fate of a ship would be if it was Ethereal and
passed "through a Portal," would it get dumped completely into the
Ethereal Plane? Would it get dragged back to the Prime/Flow as it
passed through? Would an SJ Shock roll be needed?
2)There is the constant battle between autheticity and ease of use. I
think that staying with miles as the standard.
3)Mapping out portals is an interesting idea, but one that is not (I
feel) neccessary at this point. Putting together the SJCS3.5 shoud
begin with outright conversion of existing material and then let the
tweaking begin. While I love voluminous detail it can be overwhelming
to some DMs. Putting it in as a sidebar would be best.
