Actually...

In CoAS, pg.10:

"Phlogiston has varying thickness in space and forms dense rivers
between planet-sized objects (such as the spheres themselves)."

The scale of a planet (Earth is roughly 25 thousand miles
circumference) to the scale of the inside of a crystal sphere (a
sphere 1au radius, Earth's orbital distance from the Sol, is
roughly 600 million miles circumference)...

Now, you might think that they just hadn't done the maths, but a
factor difference in size of a minimum of tens of thousands
between planets and crystal spheres is not something that I'd
ignore!

(I mention circumference, not radius or diameter, as if you are
flying over the outside surface of a crystal sphere then that is
what you have to worry about.)

London; a nice place to visit, but I certainly wouldn't want to
live there! [grin]

Not that I'm claiming it has an astronomical size! [grin]
