The fleet ships in my old campaign sphere used invisibility and nondetection type spells to enhance their missile defenses and to help them close with enemy forces undetected, however, a souped up glitterdust spell and/or detect invisibility spells usually cancelled out the "cloaking" if used properly. Also, my players seemed to think that dark paint schemes on their vessels helped in regards to camouflage, my contention was that there was indeed times when you actually DID want to have your ship noticed and that bright colors helped when you needed desperately to have a friendly vessel spot you for search and rescue. IMC, some ship have cloaking devices that can make the whole ship invisible, while an iron-clad vessel type called the sub-mariner can cloak itself by dipping the whole ship into etherealspace. They both function the same way, allowing non-detection by nearby normal space area ships. Depending on the type of invisibility, I would allow normal ways of detecting invisibility to work in space, magical or creative ways. If I was playing and I suspect a ship might be invisible in my area and I can guess it's general position, I would shoot a catapult shot packed with flour to help detect them before opening up with powder shot and stone shots. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
