if it gets a little boring, but after all, LinkSpace IS the most boring
sphere in the DragonFlow. Ill shorten it up some.

Decundus is the center of sentient life in LinkSpace. From space, at
appears as a stunning deep blue ball shrouded by a few wispy clouds. Most
land masses are too small to be seen from space, although the white polar
ice caps stand out. A single silvery moon hangs overhead.
As mentioned before, Decundus is a water body. Due to explorers having
discovered places where the sub-surface temperature seems to be warmer,
particularly the farther one goes down, it has been hypothesized that the
planets watery core is naturally kept near the boiling point. Since
surface bubbles are uncommon, however, this indicates that the core is not
gaseous in nature, just very hot.
The humans of Decundus have not been present long on Decundus, perhaps
only a few thousand years. This is evident in the complete lack of
evolution found on the Decundians. The records kept by the humans there
clearly separate themselves from the large known populations of Tritons
and Merfolk.
Human society on Decundus is generally feudal in nature, with one ruler
claiming ownership of one or more of the floating islands of Decundus.
These islands are hardly continents, each being never more than a few
scant miles across. Most folk are simple farmers or herders, and no one
has a standing army.
However, the Decundian Navies are legendary and dry docks can be found at
most island baronies. The ships built on Decundus are beautiful,
reliable, and much sought after by visitors to the surface. Since life at
sea is second nature to the people of Decundus, the shipwrights spare no
luxury when designing their ships. Decundian Luxury Galleons, many larger
than the standard 40 tons, have been known to boast grand ball rooms and
fest halls, or other enmities one would only expect to find off-ship at
the most prestigious of ports.
These ships are generally made from a thick stringy form of algae named
Hardweed, native only to Decundus. The algae is harvested in great
amounts and laid out either strait or in pre-casted molds. When the
Hardweed dries, it takes on the general properties of thick wood. It is
then coated with another derivative of the seaweed which waterproofs the
new shape, much like pitch. Hardweed is enormously abundant and grows on
the underside of virtually every isle on Decundus in dangling, flowing,
upside-down forests. Because the Hardwood can be shaped before drying,
this takes ship-board artistry to new heights. Hardweed can even be used
to repair ships made of other materials, if one knows how to work the
weed as is commonly said on Decundus. It will even keep indefinitely, as
long the weed is kept moist.
Life on Decundus is simple, if one is a simple person himself. Most folk
keep to themselves and their lots in life and are content with living
their peaceful existence. The phrase Going to Nonus is a common saying
spoken here. It is evoked when someone is acting strange or wildly angry,
and is similar to saying a wild goose chase. People will also threaten
to send you strait to Nonus if you make them angry. Both of these
phrases come from the time of the legendary ill-fated migration of a large
population of Decundians when they traveled to Nonus to work for the
Arcane. However, the people of Nonus actually seem to be a bit more
elegant, and definitely softer spoken. They tend to look down on the
brash, uncouth sailor-rabble of Decundus. Yes, on Decundus, Spelljamming
is fairly common knowledge, but the Decundians, seem to take it all in
stride, after all, all of their own folk live their own lives at sea, and
they dont see that much of a difference. As long as a visitor keeps his
or her hands out of the politics of Decundus, hell find fine workmanship,
honest traders, and generally friendly, welcoming folk. Decundus is a
great place to make repairs and hire crew, especially if you come to trade
in minerals- the one product Decundus is definitely lacking in.
