Hey y'all, though I would send an update about my situation for those who might be interested (thanks for those emails of support, they have really helped to keep my spirits up!) My fiancee, 5 cats and I have a roof and food until late Oct here in NY. We are watching the situation to see when it is safe to return. I just got word that my home survived, and am hoping the swampland ecology does not mold/mildew everything before our return. We are living in an empty apt that is under renovation, so conditions are not ideal but they are MUCH better than still being there. Personally I find it rather amusing that this all went down right after Stormwracked (which I gather has a lot of usefull info for 3.x SJ) was released. My fiancee has gotten some part time work in Manhattan, I on the other hand have a broken hand and have only gotten two one day gigs. The Red Cross and local churches have been very kind, FEMA sucks. I won't say more about FEMA because I don't believe in LOOOOOONG flames. My job is gone, submerged. One, if not both of Alexis' jobs are as well. Hopefully I should be able to get work assisting the rebuild. My gaming group is scattered from San Francisco to NY, and about half of them are not returning to New Orleans having chosen permanent relocation in the aftermath. Any of you in the NY area drop me a line, we need all the friends we can get right now. In short, it sucks but it could be far worse. We have come out relatively unscathed compared to many. Most of my friends got between one and thirteen feet of water in thier homes. We are resonably stable at the moment, although having to ask for federal assistance really grates on my nerves. I hope that you are all well, I miss being able to write gaming stuff here and for Planewalker. Be kind to any New Orleanians you run across, they are my friends and neighbors and they need it. I am only infrequently able to glance at list mail (its all piling up for when I have time and a life again) so anyone wishing to contact me should email directly- george.williams.iv@?????.com The blog address in my sig is one of the best ways to keep up with my situation and also includes the podcasts of our flight (a caravan of 9 people, 13 cats and a snake).
