Hahahaha. I logged on to post something about Gith and look what I
found. Hehe. Adam, I'm not sure if your timing is great or awful.

For some unrelated (to SJ) work I was doing I looked up the xotzcoyotl,
cavedogs, in Dragon to add to a module today and I saw the two gith
dogs that were presented in the same article (see Dragon #117). The
Kaoulgrim of the githyanki seem like ideal animals that might be traded
to priates of gith by githyanki looking to influence them. Certainly
the pirates of gith described in the SJ MC are deadly foes of the mind
flayers but they don't seem as singularly dedicated to this quest as
the githyanki (since they are also general marauders). Thus the
githyanki might well see the possibilities of ensuring they keep their
focus and of mutual coordination and cooperation. They would make
ideal people to raise new Kaoulgrim pups (which have to be raised on
the prime material) which the githyanki could then take possession of
as they got older. Bribing a pirate of gith mage with a scroll of
their binding spell (or perhaps a magic item, they don't want to share
their secret spell freely) and a Kaoulgrim would be a good way to tie
the gith leaders to their own aims.
