matter/antimatter is what I thought as well. Good idea for an engine,
although it might get  dicey in the flow. I think they coverd the overload  as well.
Heck, some of the engines in Airships are more or less traditional  helms
powered by Arcane or Divine magic, even the lifejammer helm is recreated.
Whoever wrote Airships was probably a fan of SJ
