For the life of me, I can't find the web page again. I
did a quick google search and grab the most

Each stone represent a separate source of magical
energy and they act as a energy (force) multiplier.
Well, it is more of an addition than multiplying the
force.

Can you imagine if you have an energy source
multiplier that can make a level one magical energy
into a level nine magical energy by bouncing it
between magical transformers or magnetron?

The downside is that the ioun stones can go dim by
constant use. The energy pull of the helm pretty much
drains the ioun stone of magical energy.

Come to think of it, do psionic energy powered ioun
stones affected the same way by the ioun stone helm?
Yes, ioun stones tuned for psionic use are affected
the same way.

The ioun stone turning grey is a bad, bad sign for an
ioun stone helm user. I would follow the rules for the
use of ioun stones. I don't have the rule in front of
me, but I 'assume' that the helmsman would need rest
between use. Of course, if he trust the junior
helmsman, he can release his stones for use on the
helm.
