Ok, try this :)
http://silverblade.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/merchant_xray.jpg
Not sure if I should just call it a "Tradesman" or rename it "Merchantman"
Hm, I scaled all ships up by a factor of x2, as the 5' scale of deckplans
was no use at all, impractical.
But the tradesman I modified a bit more than others.

Anyway, I have the model in Rhino format so I can give precise scales, make
deckplans etc if wish :)
The xray style lets folk see details better. I can do this with other ships
to if want, still need to convert them to new renderer format though.

Way I figure the Tradesman SHOULD be:

1) Deep and beamy, it's a trading vessel, it HAS ot carry a LOT of cargo.
Deep to offset the wings for stability and cargo space.

105' length
30' wide and high

2) Storage space under aft cabons, this is left over space form design,
using it as storage space makes sense as that occurred in real ships, giving
a place to store food/drink etc.

3) Fore cabin is huge, I see this as being captains cabin or extra storage
space or whatever.
Three rear cabins.

4 Main hold is now BIG, 5'x11' hatches allow large but not huge cargo items.
Big items would be on deck or towed. Lower (ballast) deck and main cargo
deck allow huge volume to be carried. I see ships having collapsable ramps
assembled from wood in the main cargo deck to help with loading when needed,
or harbour cranes lowering items in.
Guess lot of crew may sleep here in hammocks.

5) Thick heavy railings for defence., two sections can be lowered on each
side for cargo handling passengers etc to get on board easier if need, or
for weapon firing.

Sound/look good? :)
