I was thinking on something else earlier today when it suddenly dawned on me that the adventure included with the Menzoberranzan boxed set is perfect for converting to SJ (and man, was that a wierd leap from what I'd been dwelling on :). The adventure would obviously need converting of creatures from drow and such to more common races (suggestions follow) but the basic premise of the PCs acting as guards for a merchant involved in a feud between two merchant clans is perfect for use. If you go with the idea of rare or nearly unknown magics you could even have one house be manipulated/backed by the Arcane (either wanting to control the magic or prevent its spread--at all or by anyone else). In the module the PCs are either the scions of a merchant house or protecting an independent merchant traveling to trade at a secret trade location used by representatives of several "local" races (duergar, surface worlders--which is very oddly defined in the module, drow, and svirfneblin). In the conversion the location need not be secret (I see no reason for it even in the original module) and the races could be such common merchants as humans, Shou, elves, rastipedes, and dohwar (however you convert, I think I would leave the Arcane out, if they are part of the location I think some of the module would become invalidated, even if you don't choose to include them anywhere else in your conversion). The PCs then have to bring back certain trade goods safely past monsters (SJ: pirates), rivals (SJ: rivals ;), and such. When they get back home they get caught in a large proxy battle between the trade houses, the result of which (because it's a module and not a campaign) determines the question of who will have the items and control the trade in them. My point in posting this isn't really to say, "Look, anohter module that can be converted to SJ!" but to point out that adventure ideas can be universal and SJ adventure ideas can be gleaned from the most unexpected sources (who really looks at underdark sources for SJ adventure ideas? :). __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
