Nature of Space - Part 4
-------------------------

Variations in Aether Space - As mentioned above, there
are subtle varations through out Aether Space. In some
places some unknown, subtle difference amplifies fire
and connections to the element of fire that arise, in
other regions this subtle connection does not exist.
In some parts of Aether Space this subtle connection
seems to be related to another element, such as air or
water, or to an outer planar energy such as chaos,
law, evil, or good. In these regions, these elements
or spiritual energies that are connected to the
anamoly seem to amplify and grow, and sometimes seem
to feed themselves. In areas connected to air, air
spells create massive amounts of air and strange winds
may blow. In water areas strange mists and clouds may
drift about, and water spells are increased to
unpredictable levels. In still other areas evil seems
to grow and strengthen, or good, and in even others
chaos or law seems to grow.

These energies usually only come into being when a
traveler in the aether creates them or introduces
them, and they generaly disapate and fade away after
the traveler or source of the energy has passed. In
some areas, however, there are large numbers of
travelers introducing a certain energy, and these
energies can become so strong that they seem to become
permenently spread throughout the aether of these
regions. A good example of this is the Milky Way
region, which is described next.

These regions are anywhere from galaxy sized to the
size of entire galaxy clusters or clusters of galaxy
clusters. Some examples would be the region of space
the Milky Way Galaxy exists within and the region the
star systems known as "Arcane Space" exist within.

In the Milky Way region the connection to chaos is
strongest. Milky Way travelers who have been using
Aether Space, which they call "the warp," have slowly
amplified the powers of chaos throughout the aether in
their region, until the entire region has become
filled with such a level of chaos that it seems to
have become permanent. Many legends and myths have
arisen around this, but it is certain that the aether
in this region has been radically changed compared to
other regions. The high levels of chaos seem to be
responsible for the changes, and they have created
some powerfull beings, on the same level as outer
planar dieties. (See the Warhammer 40,000 Universe
description for more about this region.)

In the area of Arcane Space the connection to fire is
stronger, but not strong enough that it grows and
becomes out of control, like in the Milky Way region.
Sages speculate that if the fire connection in the
Arcane Space region was as strong as the chaos
connection in the Milky Way region, all of the Aether
in Arcane Space would permanently burn in a huge cloud
of flames the size of several galaxies.

Sages speculate that the region around the Dragon
Galaxy either has no connections to any particular
energies or it has a connection to the outer planar
energy of neutrality. Since the later would manifest
itself as the former, it is really a moot point which
it is.
