Ah...well I just noticed that they was very little 'print and play' material
on the website....lots of ships and monsters, but not much I could drop
directly into the campaign as a random encounter.
So I thought of some sort of 'design a ship and crew' contest, where you
designed an entire ship and crew, ready to drop into a campaign as a random
(or planed) encounter....might be a bit much work though...maybe main NPCs
and ship.
For a prize I know a lot of the online RPG PDF stores now sell gift
certificates...*shrug* just an idea....Or they could give you some details
and be turned into a SPELLJAMMER character or something...
A contest that would be easy to get a fair number of results would be
"Design a quote" You just have to write a one or two line quote with SJ
flavour (like from the old books), and then the winners (or maybe all the
good ones) would get to see the quotes on the SJ web page...

The 'Original Spelljammer' contests have ended, because of lack of
time and participation. I suspect if I had handled the last few
better participation would have been better. But we just didn't have
much in the way of submissions. When you only get two to four it just
becomes hard to judge, and when you have no real prizes you get very
few submissions.
I have an another idea to generate new SJ lore through the list,
however, pretty simple and stolen from the FR list. I'll try to post
on it soon.
