As the primary offender I submit the explanation as follows:
As surmised there was a programmer involved. One of the players in our old
campaign was an artificial Intelligence researcher (Turing tests and all
that). He was also our chief chronicler and note taker for the game. His
notation has since become a standard in my campaigns, especially since they
all are built on the actions of their predecessors. As a result we also
diverge here and there from the published timelines. All the events in the
published materials occur, the dates may be changed to protect the guilty
