Well, that has lots of funny possibilities, So, does one go slowly insane dealing with mind flayers in your game? :) In my game, I've made the elves one of the major powers that did have a un-human war. I have it set up as the elves sticking their noses in other races business, making unfair trade deals etc.. Kind of like the Americans but much much more annoying. Humans and elves do not get along well in my game as they hate what humans are doing to their environment. We are only better then the dirty orcs as we don't eat elves:) For those that have interest I have a 30 page in progress write up.. Hello? Is this list still active? I haven't seen anything from it in a while. So tell me, where do you think illithids originated? I was reading in the illithiad, and it suggests they came form outside the space-time continuum. I'm thinking of renaming them the "Children of Cthulu" in my spelljamming campaign, and saying they come form an alternate universe and are actually several races - mindflayers, korpu, and another one I made up. They are all related because they were spawned by Cthulu, which is from an indescribable universe or dimension. The speljammer galaxy I have made was never really touched by the inhuman wars, but was torn by a huge war called the Illithid War, so the illithids are major players here. Them and elves. The elves came into the galaxy only at the tail end of the Illithid Wars, and luckily for them the gith revolted a few thousand years after they entered the war and this broke the illithid empire. Now the elves are a major power, but they are ultra-paranoid and hunt or guard the illithids zealously wherever they are known to exist. There is even a star system with a ruined penumbra in it. Instead of the penumbra being a singular entity, as it was in the illithid adventures, there were at least three knwon ones existing, and maybe more. You have to understand how huge the illithid empire was. It didn't just span galaxies, it spanned planes of existence, universes, and dimensions. One of the penumbras was in my galaxy, draining a star. When the star was drained, it could phase shift to another star system, where it would drain it's star over several hundred years. All the penumbras were like this, but it took them hundreds of years to drain a star, and they needed the fuel of a drained star to phase shift to another star system. Near the end of the illithid war, the elves and dragons united and attacked the penumbra in my galaxy, and shattered it, breaking the illithid's power and presence in the galaxy. Chased by the elves, dragons, and the gith, they fled and only held on in various worlds they had colonized or that they crash-landed on. Well, I just put that all out to start conversation and see if this list is still alive. Let me know what you think. That AstroSynthesis program by NBOS rules, I've been putting my galaxy together with it, and it's turning out pretty kewl. Got the head almost finished, with all the elven and illithid strongholds in it. I'm ready for more war! - Coyote, the Desert Dog _________________________________________________________________ Planning a family vacation?
