This was from the last "season" of my campaign... which ran for but one evening with two players before it went bust due to RL concerns. The world of Krynn, is dead. The lands known as the Forgotten Realms are barely recovered from the avatars of gods walking amongst men, elves, and dwarves. Space has been ravaged by war. A tenuous peace has existed for two years, since what has become known as the Khazai Accord was signed by Scro and Elf. This peace was brought about by a greater threat in this the second Unhuman War, the threat of a rogue Scro Admiral and his fanatical followers, their backs turned upon their races vicious yet rigid ways. Said to traverse the spheres in a huge elven ship, unseen until too late, and leaving no survivors behind him, his motivations are unknown, and neither of the major powers of the day wish to claim responsibility. Many blame the Scro, naturally, as his was one of their most barbaric and infamous legions in the opening of the war, and should have been better kept in line by their Allmighty Leaders and Warpriests of Dukgash. Others blame the elves, for loosing such a dominating space-fortress as he is rumoured to have captured, and also for not protecting them from the sudden Scro invasion in the first place. Others blame fate and the gods, disbelieving the rumours and elven claims that it was the Scro who slew Krynn, and released unnatural creations amongst the stars, and too disbelieving the militant Scro's claim that they are merely reclaiming what is, by right, theirs from aeons ago. Sorcerors across space are blamed for many wrongs and random disasters, a convenient target for those unwilling to lay blame upon soldiers of both sides who have been garrisoned for the entire existence of the Accord, eager to spill blood for their cause. Even wizards, commonly accepted due to the nature of space travel, a magi upon a helm needed to power a typical ship, are mistrusted. Followers of the many spatial gods claim there are wars in heaven causing the strife, and several ports have been destroyed by one faction or another attacking seemingly randomly. Kingdoms upon groundling nations are hardly unaffected by the chaos. The dwarven realm of Gortharia, lain in Agraspace for thousands of years, has been without a king for the longest time in recorded history. The inhabitants of Crescent in Heartspace claim the universe is punishing all races for failing to conform as they do, while in reality there have been two brief civil wars on the planetoid, one caused by a heated discussion of the colour of their soldiers cloaks. Further south on the galactic map are tales of well known ports falling silent, of ships failing to return from otherwise typically safe tradelanes, while north the normally economic hub of Vistaspace is a deadzone, pirate raids almost as constant as once were the tourists in that sphere, the Imperial Elven Navy unable to defend the many pleasure ports due to the Khazai Accord. To the west of the arcane inner flow, known to be the center of the universe and the phlogiston, war continues to flow in the water of Aquaspace, the water-sphere, the Sahaughin fighting the otherwise peaceful inhabitants, both sides riled to anger by some unknown force. Finally to the east, tales of strange wolf-ships are spreading like wildfire, and of the coming of an invasion larger than any since the great war of the leaf thousands of years ago, when the 'kreen supposedly attacked in groups of unfathomable numbers. The phlogiston grows darker, these days, festivals and celebrations are hardly remembered two days nigh their passing, as the day to day humdrum and difficulty of life in the supposed wildspace recession continues. The port of Rhuun Khazai, home to many, is one of few free refuges left. The economic boom during its recent construction has now died off, yet the asteroid city in the flow still seems to survive well enough, diplomats and traders enjoying the protection offered by the largest known garrisons of either side of the Unhuman War. None would dare attack this place, the Accord specified that should any attempt be made by anyone to attack the fleets there it would be broken, despite Admiral Korgesh's continued freedom. No race, no matter how evil, how depraved, or how desperate, would risk such a thing, for before the Accord was signed more blood covered the stars than starlight itself. Surely none would. Tilaurin
