Hm, or more likely merley pay "tribute" in that senario? :)

Not only do you have the problems oyu mentioned if oyu tried conquering a
planet, but you'd have a TON more:
--Most fantasy worlds may have thousands of small local ruler, who'd need ot
be dealt with individually.
--Strange local conditions may make it way to hazardous. Disease, everyone
is an archmage etc.
--Fantasy worlds do not have to have a normal geography (my campaign word is
multidimensional, sort of)

But raiding for profit is sure feasible ;)
