Subject: Re: The F-Realms: Munchkins or Making sense?
<<My opinion: The Realms is certainly a playground for the high-leveled and
heavily armed. However, most PCs in a TYPICAL D&D game will become
high-leveled and heavily armed, thus living up to the higher-than-high
fantasy setting that FR represents.>>

IMo i will agree with you somewhat. The realms is high magic. But i would
rather a high magic, but richly detailed environ for the players to game in
than one not so developed and low magic. Also, all those high level nps'
make great story ideas or 'Smacking down munchkin' player devices...

<<As a secondary, and more related question, Spelljammer seems to have
potential for even more powerful foes and (in general) more challenging
encounters than even the 'high-powered' Realms. (Examples: each ship
encounter includes a minimum of one spellcaster, and usually more than one,
void monsters are generally bigger/tougher/harder to kill than non-void
monsters 'cause they don't have to breathe/eat/sleep/whatever, and the
party's clerics seem to spend most of their lives without spells.) Does this
make Spelljammer more or less "believable" than the Realms?>>

I see spelljammer as being the better of FR versus SJ. While it is also
somewhat top heavy, there is more IMO believeability in the people there.
Toss in the abillity to play races that would make normal ground side pc's
weak, and yes, it CAN get munchkinny, but imo, if the DM lets it through, it
is his/her problem....
