I could be wrong, but wasn't it hypothesized quite a long time ago that the center of the large gaseous planets (Saturn, Jupiter, and so on) are huge diamonds? If I remember correctly, the theory states that the heavier gasses (such as carbon) would be pulled to the planets core where the immense pressure would cause them to form diamonds of unimaginable size.
