I had some members who could not get onto my site,
they received the emails fine, but it would not allow
them to look at the files on site until they actually
checked into the account area and updated their files.
I think it is to keep a spammer from automaticly being
able to mess with a site. Doesn't seem to stop them on
open sites, but it does when it is invitation only
sites.

If it is to keep people from being able to modify the
text then it should be fine (As long as you have
clicked that button to keep it from being copied), It
does have the advantage of keeping the various text
based word processors from arguing. Word Perfect and
Office Word sometimes have compatability problems.
Anyone can download a reader for Acrobat PDFs.
