OK, this is getting kinda silly. I guess my writing on this has not been clear. I was simply asking the author of the story for a little tidbit of info on why these two groups cared about a remote section of the phlogiston. I was not trying to insult him or imply the story was not a good one. The question on how cares wasn't about us, in the real world, but the people in his story.
