Who cares if it's right smack dab in the middle of the known spheres?  Maybe
they'll blow them all up, then WOTC will have to start coming out with
generic adventures that fit into my campaign better.

I guess you'd have to read the story, then you'd know if you cared or not.
Most upperworlders don't care what happens in the remote depths of the
underdark, until the hordes start pouring forth and slaughtering them in
their sleep.
