Some small ships that I use in my own campaign are in the 1/4-1/2 ton range. They are mainly used for attack options in battles, and cannot sustain themselves for more than a few hours with their limited air envelope. Their size also makes them dangerous, for if you want to load them up with troops, you had better get them to their destination fast or include some sort of magical air refreshing. Also, as they are actually too small to include a spelljamming helm (space limitations if you want to include any decent sized weapon, cost, etc.) other engines must be used. Randy
