You move as fast as you think. The original voidjammer moved using Illithid elder brain. I assume that with a proper adjusted psi-helm that it can also move a sizable massed ship. I don't think that size matters as long you have the brain power to move it. I also think that planejammer would be different from spelljammer or voidjammer (astral plane). I am reminded of old articles where an earth elemental mudship can if allowed travel in the elemental plane of earth or a submarine powered by fire and water elemental based engine travel the elemental plane of water. For the problem with air then magic is needed to retain the air around your ship entering and leaving the silver realms. I am really looking forward on how my players would try to solve these problems. =) > Of course travelling to the inner planes is > dangerous because the enviroments tend to be rather > nasty towards flesh and blood creatures and ships > that haven't been specially prepared. When I play in one of our other DM's game, I play a well prepared character. I don't like munchkin characters, but someone who is prepared to meet the challenges thrown at them by Fate. If your character enters knowingly into a situation where they are put in danger, they should be prepared to survive those situations either by magic, gears, weapons, cunning or knowledge. I think a prepared ship can enter all those environments you mentioned and survive if they know what they are doing and DM willing, with good rolls. =) > "The Psurlons -hyper intelligent, wormlike > psionicists- slowly spread throughout the Silver > Void [another name for the Astral] establishing > fortresslike communities not unlike those of the > Githyanki themselves."..."Currently it seems that > the main goal of Psurlons is the complete and utter > destruction of the Githyanki- which makes three > races seeking that same end" from Monstrous > Compendium Planescape Appendix III. I remembered old adventures and debating if I would add some other complications my players already run into before that are connected to the astral plane. In one side trip their ship was attacked by Volucris or buggers coming out of the astral plane. I had to hold back on expanding on this idea because I winged it at that time and I don't have any stats. On another trip they encountered the "Beast" (think Homeworld Cataclysm) on a hammership. Just think of a smart witchlight marauder that attack ships for food and use the ship to house "offspring". They can not spelljam only tactical speed in wildspace, but they can shift in and out of the astral plane and travel anywhere. > The etheral also has large ships that are used to > move about as well and one could take a ship there > too.
