Ariel Sibal said [along with some other stuff but I don't to make the post too long] <In my campaign my players might get involve as mercenaries for any of the 6 groups involve or blunder into a "galactic war". They might be also sent by human groups to investigate a reported war in the astral plane and in elven held space. With the Githyanki's void cruiser and the Tomb of Gith scenarios, I am getting a good feel for the campaign. I also found Githyanki astral ships on The Dragon/ Dungeon magazine website, on their side bar. [http://www.paizopublishing.com/dragon.shtml] If you have any more information, please send them my way at asibal_2000(at)yahoo(dot)com. If you have books to recommend please let me know also.> It sounds cool but I was under the impression (though it may be false) that Spelljamming helms only worked the prime material plane. Planejammers do exist, but are drastically rarer and have different magics making them function. Githyanki Astral ships also function differently then Spelljammers and regardless the physics of other planes are much different than the physics of wildspace, though they could easily attach a spelljaming helm so that when they entered wild space they could move rapidly there too. One problem I envision would be that if you shifted to the astral all the air from your ship bleeds away, while this isn't a problem on that plane (you don't need to eat, breath, age, etc. on the Astral) when you come back to wildspace you no longer have an air envelope. (I am aware that the pirates of Gith can and do planeshift to the astral with their ships, but that is a unique ability of them and so the effects are not applicable to the rest of us) "Loki" said <Blue Scro (The Third Eye of Dukagsh, a team of psions and psychic warriors) may even find a way to translate a ship across the dimensional barrier.I have already laid some groundwork in this direction by having them spot an elven man o war on the elemental plane of air.> Of course travelling to the inner planes is dangerous because the enviroments tend to be rather nasty towards flesh and blood creatures and ships that haven't been specially prepared. On the quasiplane of Vacume all your air bleeds off, fire and magma both incinerate you, water your air pocket turns into so many bubbles, Positve energy makes you go off like a fire work, radiance you burn and your eyes get burned out of your head by the dazzling colors etc etc. I wonder if you can have undead plants, cause the negative energy plane spontaneously animates things killed there so it would be interesting to see what would happen to an elvish or thri-kreen ship brought there. "The Psurlons -hyper intelligent, wormlike psionicists- slowly spread throughout the Silver Void [another name for the Astral] establishing fortresslike communities not unlike those of the Githyanki themselves."..."Currently it seems that the main goal of Psurlons is the complete and utter destruction of the Githyanki- which makes three races seeking that same end" from Monstrous Compendium Planescape Appendix III. So thats another race likely to get involved in any big action on the Astral plane. Since they originally came from the prime and only emigrated after they destroyed their homeworld you could probably work it into the campaign that they are trying to return to the prime and establish an empire their as well. The etheral also has large ships that are used to move about as well and one could take a ship there too. If you're looking for books, I would suggest the folllowing. Planescape A guide to the Astral Plane If you're going to use the innerplanes get tsr 2635 The inner planes Planescape Monstrous Compendium Apendix III: This one is monster from the Astral, Ethereal, and Inner Planes Concerning the rebellious Gith, you should look into PS23 - The Vortex of Madness and Other Planar Perils, it has a scenario entitled The Citadel of Gith Reborn which is all about Gith rebelling against the Litch Queen. Proverb: Give a man a fire and he will be warm for a day. Light a man on fire and he will be warm for the rest of his life. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!?
