I have a campaign idea for a three way brawl that
includes the Githyankis, Illithids and the Elves. So I
am reading and researching anything and everything
about this three races. Well, you know the Githyanki
hatred for the Illithids and they are off into a Jihad
against them. We find out that a portion of the
Illithid navy and nations are in the astral plane and
allow them easy access to distant spheres. Elder mind
pools of the Illithids on prime material plane even
extend to the astral plane in one article that I read.

Well, it all started when the elves decided that the
individual sphere fleet would take years to grow and
the new incursion of humanoids are escalating day by
day. They have devised a new plan that calls out for
the fleets in other sphere to be used as
reenforcement. Their plan was to use the astral plane
to bypass the phlogiston and have ship arrive in days
and not months. They have already experimented with
magics that allow whole ships to be transported to the
astral place and back. They also experimented with
various astral plane helm and the best one so far is
the Illithid elder brains that the original
voidjammers used. They have now commissioned a study
for a gateway to the astral plane that would allow the
biggest Elven ships to pass into and out of the plane.
These networks of gateways to the astral plane would
be the new Elven ace in the hole.

One of the few problem is that the astral plane is not
so empty as first thought. A portion of the Mind
Flayers fleet as well as nations lived in the astral
plane with their nemesis, the Githyankis. The passing
experimental elven ships power source were detected by
nearby outpost of the two races and they went to
investigate it. The power source, the elder brains,
are registering in both species psion minds when the
helms are active. The Illithids tried to recover their
property from the elves and attacked them. The
Githyanki attacked both parties, trying to destroy the
Illithids and the elves for incursion in their area of
influence. A three way brawl ensues and the elves were
expelled from the astral plane with the Githyankis and
Illithids following and attacking elven outpost on
each sphere where the elves returned. The Githyankis
and Illithids are on an even footing and they fight
where they meet each other. Including in this fray are
Githyanki rebels that are looking for the tomb of Gith
to counter the Githyanki's Queen, Githzerai agents in
their own ships hiring mercenaries to take advantage
of the situation and humanoids that are trying to
prevent the elven use of the astral plane.

In my campaign my players might get involve as
mercenaries for any of the 6 groups involve or blunder
into a "galactic war". They might be also sent by
human groups to investigate a reported war in the
astral plane and in elven held space. With the
Githyanki's void cruiser and the Tomb of Gith
scenarios, I am getting a good feel for the campaign.
