Hey thanks for all the answers everyone! <No idea; as defiler magic was originally native to Dark Sun, which was specifically designated a closed sphere> I thought Athas wasn't sealed so much as just lost. No one knew where it was, and regardless it is was waaaay the hell out there. Far beyond the limits of known space and all that. My theory was that the Xixchil came from Athas way in the past when it was still living and what not. Since no one knows where the Xixchil homeworld is or what it was like beyond the description that it was a watery world. Or maybe it was all plant llife, I can't remember off the top of my head. (the blue age and the green age respectively for those familiar with dark sun). Many Xixchil left Athas on big ships (possibly Arc ships, though it doesn't really matter that much) when it was still living and not a blasted waste land. Maybe it took so long to reach the known spheres because there are no phlogiston rivers leading to Athas so they floated across a "void" in the flow. In the mean time Athas died, and the remaining Xixchil evolved into Thri Kreen to adapt to the environment. The Thri Kreen then used the planes as a short cut and arrived in the known spheres at apoximately the same time as Xixchil arrived and both spread across wild space. Proverb: Give a man a fire and he will be warm for a day. Light a man on fire and he will be warm for the rest of his life. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!?
