I once had an artifact which was a folding box which
was originally folded by Ptah around an entire Crystal
Sphere which was home to a malignant entity. The box
was quite ornate and had been tossed away in the flow
without the key.The box was hinged in such a way as to
be able to be opened only one time with out the key so
it resembled a normal box. The malignant entity inside
could influence the person who opened it so far into
looking for the key. But Ptah had not realized one
ability of said entity, it could turn itself vaporous
and bind to living flesh. The longer the box was open,
even that small crack, the more of the malignant
entity could come through and the more flesh could be
corrupted. It could also bind to once living material,
and here is where it became truly interesting. A mage
who was listening to the entity left the box open for
an entire voyage inside a Galleon as it traveled the
Sword Coast on Toril in Realmspace. Finally it took
the entire ship as a body and went up, taking the mage
and crew with it. They were seeking the true key,
unfortunately for the entity inside, the key Ptah
chose was the scepter of Orcus and the only place it
could be opened was in the Phlogiston.
In my final conflict, someone had managed to obtain
the scepter of Orcus, making them a real target for
Demonic Forces, and gotten the key close to the
Artifact Box, but Ptah showed up and folded the box
out of existence, then sent the scepter back to Orcus.

There was an entire campaign more of stuff, but that
is the highlights.
