Somehow he thinks he's a god, I was surprised that his work on Armies of the
Abyss was actually useable. But then again Green Ronin probably demands more
of its developers that WotC so he had to work to get it done. Unlike the Poly
fiasco where he took a crap transcribed it to a computer screen and called is
SpellJammer. I seriously don't think he ever even blinked at the one Steampunk
article in Dragon or he would realize that we called a "wonky cosmology" was
based on real world thinking back in the Renaissance years. Not to mention the
Victorian and Edwardian eras where the Ether thought prevailed to a degree. It
wasn't until the American space program started collecting data that we
confirmed our current notions about the universe. Eric Moron forgot or ignored this
little factoid. SpellJammer still is a little forward thinking than most of
the industry right now. It's set up to simulate aspects of steampunk in a
fantasy context. True there is no driving force behind the setting but virtually
any sci-fi series can be reasonably mined for ideas and focus. Heck there was a
fairly decent article awhiles back suggesting using television as a model for
how a given campaign with the idea that the campaign is a TV show and the
players are the cast of main characters. There have been numerous sci-fi shows
produced with an outer space orientation here in the US and abroad. Using one or
more as a model shouldn't be too difficult.
