Very true. I know that I simplified rules for Spelljamming back in 2e for my own games. >As with any campaign we utilise a variety of sources. I am so glad to hear somebody say this! :) If I were to run a SJ campaign, I'd be utilizing a variety of sources as well, including Beyond the Moons, Shattered Fractine, Spider Moon, the classic SJ materials, Airships, Aether and Flux, etc. etc. >Whatever >WOTC puts out may say one thing, but that does'nt mean you have to scrap >your game, work or continuity. Exactly. Back in the day when I ran Dragonlance hard and heavy, I had a game that was a "next generation" sort of game. When Second Generation came out, I incorporated the Knights of Takhisis. The game was fantastic, and read like a book. Continuity changed when Dragons of Summer Flame came out. Rather than rewriting the campaign, I continued on with mine. This was the foundation for War of the Dark Lance, which you can find on the DL Nexus. Here it is, years later, and this alternate history is soon to be the foundation for a new project I'm working on, that takes the history forward. Yes, it is an alternate history for DL, but it is fun, and will be worthwhile to the DL gaming community. >WE each run or play in an amazing universe, each of which has similar >underpinnings but it's own falvor.
