Copyright issues aside, we all customize to our own ends, according to what
works within each game. Our campaign made the transition to d20 at about 6th
level. It was a great excuse for setting off an energy pulse from a Juna
artifact that changed everything..
As with any campaign we utilise a variety of sources. Leroy Van camp's
simple combat system works very well for us, as do the creature conversions
on the shattered fractine site and Paul Westermeyer's works on the scro and
on SpiralSpace as well as portions of Shadows of the Spider Moon. There is a
lot more that has been written over the past four campaigns we have played
in the SJ universe (each campaign builds continuity for the next.)
In essence, the game remained the same while the mechanics changed. Whatever
WOTC puts out may say one thing, but that does'nt mean you have to scrap
your game, work or continuity. The Arcane are the Arcane in my game, not the
Mercane (Although the Mercane entry is nice to have so that I don't have to
convert stats).
WE each run or play in an amazing universe, each of which has similar
underpinnings but it's own falvor. The DM is the Chef. Use the ingredients
that work for your game, just remember that everyone has their own cooking
style.

English is about as pure as a cribhouse whore. We don't just borrow words;
on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them
unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary."
